Tour Director's Field Report

May 25th didn't really hold much promise, but a nice supercell was able to form near Goodland, KS. Due to several limiting factors, I didn't think this little cell had what it took to produce a tornado and as it turns out that was the correct inclination. So, I tried to put some distance between myself and the updraft base to shoot some sunset photos with this nicely structured storm in the foreground. This was one of those times when its better to get some distance on the storm to appreciate the entire scene in its entirety. The shots were taken just off I-70 near Oakely, KS and it was an incredible sunset!  For an additional note, this was not a scheduled chase date, it was however a transition day between the Oklahoma City tours for May and the June tours that will occur in Denver this year.  We were taking the vehicles to Denver and decided to opt for the longer route up to I-70 for the chance of a storm developing in northwest Kansas today.
